Usage Guide

Starting with an Example

  1. Click on “Start with an Example”
  2. A sample project will be created with pre-filled content
  3. The example project contains carefully crafted sample content that demonstrates Storywise best practices
  4. Each feature is presented with a single, clear sentence to showcase optimal requirement writing for the storywise wizard

Importing from Text

  1. Copy your text into the text area
  2. Continue by clicking on “Create Project”
  3. Choose the Name of your project
  4. Choose if you want to use User Stories or Plain Text
  5. Click on “Create Project”
  6. Now you are in the wizard. See Wizard for more details.

Note: You can also create projects by importing plain text. For best results, try to have one feature per sentence. The wizard will split the text algorithmically using dots (”.”) as sentence delimiters. Of course, some abbreviations (e.g., e.g., i.e., etc.) include dots, and these will be automatically ignored. If you notice that a common abbreviation is missing from this list, please send it to support@storywi.se. Keep in mind that the sentence splitting does not have to be perfect—you can adjust the sentences in the wizard by splitting, combining, or even deleting them as needed. (see Wizard for more details)

Further Note: The same sentence-splitting approach is applied when importing PDFs. This means that during PDF import, your content will similarly be segmented into sentences, with abbreviations properly handled.

Importing a PDF

  1. Click on “Import”
  2. Select and upload your PDF document
  3. Choose the Name of your project
  4. Choose if you want to use User Stories or Plain Text
  5. Click on “Create Project”
  6. Now you are in the wizard. See Wizard for more details.

Note about PDF Import:

When importing a PDF, the entire content will be loaded as-is, which includes any headers, footers, and other page artifacts. Since PDFs are often formatted in ways that merge header/footer content with the main text, you might notice issues with sentence boundaries, extra spaces, or other formatting irregularities.

If the extracted text is difficult to read due to these formatting challenges, we recommend using an alternative text extraction service prior to importing the content into Storywise. For further assistance or additional guidance, please get in touch with us at support@storywi.se.

Using Image Upload

  1. Click on “Import”
  2. Select and upload your images
  3. Choose the Name of your project
  4. Choose if you want to use User Stories or Plain Text
  5. Click on “Create Project”
  6. Now you are in the wizard. See Wizard for more details.

Using Miro Integration

  1. Ensure your Miro board uses standard note cards
  2. Assign specific colors to epics
  3. Provide the color information during the import process
  4. Choose the Name of your project
  5. Choose if you want to use User Stories or Plain Text
  6. Click on “Create Project”
  7. Now you are in the wizard. See Wizard for more details.

Note: Storywise currently supports the import of only one specific type of note from Miro – post-it style notes. When performing a user story mapping session in Miro, designate one particular color for your epic notes. During the import process, you will be prompted to specify which color represents epics. All other post-it notes, determined by their proximity to the epic notes, will be automatically grouped and imported as user stories.

This approach relies on a visual clustering method: if the spatial arrangement in Miro looks good, Storywise should correctly associate notes with their respective epics.

Using Figma Integration

  1. Establish a connection by providing a Figma token (see Acquiring a Figma Token below)
  2. Input the file link obtained from the Figma URL

Additional Info: To obtain the Figma file link, simply copy the URL from your browser’s address bar while the file is open, or use Figma’s share functionality to generate a link.

  1. Select the desired artboards or import all underlying screens
  2. Choose the Name of your project
  3. Choose if you want to use User Stories or Plain Text
  4. Click on “Create Project”
  5. Now you are in the wizard. See Wizard for more details.

Acquiring a Figma Token

Follow these steps to create your team token:

  1. Log in to your Figma account.
  2. Navigate to your account settings from the top-left menu in Figma.
  3. Locate the section for personal access tokens.
  4. Click on “Create New Token”.
  5. Copy the generated token and paste it into Storywise.

Note: This is the only way to copy the token. Otherwise, you will need to create a new token.
